Practical work has taken a quick break off while I have been making the major, major decision of re-applying to university. I feel a Masters (postraduate) degree would provide me with the ideal diverse creative environment in which to further my personal practice.
And all in a matter of weeks, I have not only applied, but had a successful interview – resulting in the offer of a place studying on ‘MA Contemporary Textiles’ at the University of Hertfordshire. Yes! One more year of studying to really find a ‘niche’ for my highly specialised skillset within the greater world of illustrative and graphic design, all underpinned by a sound knowledge of traditional technique and emphasis upon the hand-made.
Expect all sorts of exiting and interesting new things….
I have a body of sketches underway based around the concept of hair (something I’ve long wanted to properly explore) so here’s a taste of some initial visual work I plan to use to inform my stitch… (Yes, I have a fine-line pen fetish….)
